Acupuncture

"Western medical acupuncture is a therapeutic modality...using current knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology and the principles of evidence based medicine"

White et. al.

Over the past few decades medical acupuncture has been developed from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), a practice that has been used in humans and animals for over 2,500 years. The goal of medical acupuncture has been to meld acupuncture practices of TCM with evidence based medicine of western medicine.

The practice of acupuncture aims to modulate the nervous system and myofascial dysfunction by treating nerves, vessels and myofascial cleavage planes.
